Javed Malik with business team meets Punjab CM

ISLAMABAD: An international business delegation led by Ambassador Javed Malik, prime minister’s special envoy, met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and gave a detailed presentation on investing in Pakistan’s energy sector by providing a comprehensive cost-effective solution that would deliver electricity to the country within a reasonable time line, says a press release on Thursday.
The delegation which included American and European businessmen representing reputable companies like American Ethane and General Electric expressed their serious intentions to establish upto 6,000 megawatt power plants in Pakistan.
Ambassador Javed Malik, while introducing the delegation, apprised the chief minister on the various economic diplomacy initiatives being undertaken by him to encourage international investors to visit Pakistan to explore investment opportunities.
The chief minister appreciated Malik for his proactive efforts. He expressed his warm welcome to the visiting delegates and assured them of all possible facilitation by the government of Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion, Hans Hetrell, a former US ambassador, said that he was very happy to visit Pakistan and to see the tremendous opportunities here, and said, “We see a lot of potential in this country, and express our appreciation to Ambassador Javed Malik for making it possible for all of us to visit Pakistan, we assure you that we will work with Pakistan as friends to promote business and trade activity here.”
The delegation including Mikhael Yuriev Chairman American Ethane, Micheal Hood, Alan Richards and others also held operational meetings with federal and provincial ministries of energy in order to give a practical shape to their proposals.
